Dr. Ann Herbst
Born and raised in Ontario, Dr. Ann Herbst completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Brock University before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph. During her undergraduate years, she spent weekends working as an assistant and receptionist at a local emergency clinic—an experience that sparked her enduring passion for emergency medicine.
After graduation, Dr. Herbst began her career at a small clinic that offered on-call services, allowing her to gain valuable experience in emergency care. She soon transitioned to full-time emergency medicine, and over the past decade, has worked in various emergency and specialty referral clinics across Canada and Australia. These years also gave her and her husband the opportunity to travel and explore the world together.
Now happily settled in Kelowna with her young family, Dr. Herbst has made Fairfield Animal Hospital her home. She is deeply committed to emergency veterinary care, and her approach is rooted in both compassion and clarity. She strives to not only provide the best possible care for every patient, but also to support and guide pet parents through the often stressful and emotional experiences that come with emergency visits—frequently in the middle of the night.
Dr. Herbst is dedicated to ensuring families understand their pet’s condition and treatment options, offering empathetic support every step of the way. Her goal is to help each patient heal, while providing comfort and reassurance to those who love them.
