Registered Veterinary Technician

Kara

Kara has been passionate about working in the veterinary field since she was 13, and she’s been volunteering with animals ever since. Her journey took her all the way to Dunedin, New Zealand, where she earned her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing—New Zealand’s equivalent of a Veterinary Technician in Canada.

During her studies, Kara developed a special interest in wildlife care and volunteered at the Dunedin Wildlife Hospital, gaining hands-on experience with penguins and other native sea birds.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began, Kara returned home to Ontario and joined the small animal practice where she had previously completed a high school co-op placement. It was there that she continued building her skills and deepening her love for veterinary care.

Kara eventually relocated to Kelowna, drawn by the mountains, outdoor adventures, and wildlife that she couldn’t find in Ontario. She’s excited to continue her work in veterinary medicine while embracing everything the Okanagan lifestyle has to offer.
